We are pleased to invite researchers, trainers, examiners and practitioners to participate in the Aviation English Seminar 2026, to be held at Rzeszów University of Technology, Poland.
The seminar aims to bring together specialists involved in Aviation English teaching, testing and research in order to exchange experience, present current research findings and discuss future directions for the development of aviation language training and assessment.
Keynote Speaker
The seminar will feature a keynote lecture delivered by
Dr hab. Anna Borowska, prof. UW
She is a professor at the Institute of Specialised and Intercultural Communication, Faculty of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw. She received her Ph.D. in languages for specific purposes (University of Warsaw) and Habilitation degree for avialinguistics (University of Warsaw).
She was given a position of a seconded national expert at the European Commission in Luxembourg (2013-2015) where she took part in aviation terminology projects.
She is the author of the book Avialinguistics: The Study of Language for Aviation Purposes (2017) and the originator of a new branch of linguistics: avialinguistics that is to serve aviation purposes; co-author of the book Supporting the Training of Aviation English Trainers and Assessors: Reading You 5 by 5 (2024); and the author of the book English for Aeronautical Communication (2025).
Her research focuses on linguistic problems of aeronautical verbal communication and Aviation English training for pilots and air traffic controllers.
She is an Aviation English instructor at Łazarski Aviation Academy in Warsaw, and an examiner in Belgium, France, Poland.

Seminar aims
The seminar is intended to:

integrate the community of Aviation English trainers, examiners and researchers
-
provide a platform for presenting current research and best teaching practices
-
discuss challenges related to aviation communication and language assessment
-
support the development of cooperation between academic and operational aviation environments
The seminar is open to both presenting participants and attendees without presentations.
Call for Papers
We invite proposals for paper presentations, workshops and poster sessions related to Aviation English and aviation communication.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

aviation communicative discourse

pilot–ATC verbal interaction

Aeronautical and Technical Aviation English

Aviation English testing and assessment
-
training of Aviation English teachers and language assessors
-
multilingualism and intelligibility in aviation communication
-
fluency, accuracy and interaction in operational contexts

aviation language policy and regulatory frameworks

artificial intelligence in Aviation English teaching and testing
Paper presentations are expected to last 20 minutes followed by discussion.
Workshops may be proposed as 45- or 90-minute sessions.

Proposal submission
Abstracts of up to 400 words should be submitted via the registration form at the time of registering. Please ensure your abstract clearly outlines the focus, methods, and expected outcomes of your presentation.
Publication opportunity
Participants will have the opportunity to submit full papers for post-conference publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal or an edited academic volume. Detailed guidelines and deadlines will be provided after the seminar.

Participation and conference fee
The seminar is open to both presenting participants and attendees without presentations.
It is intended as a forum for academic exchange as well as professional networking within the Aviation English community.
Conference fee and payment information
The conference fee for participation in the 2nd Aviation English Seminar is:
- 300 PLN, or
- 70 EUR
Conference fee payment deadline: 31 May 2026
The conference fee covers:
- participation in the seminar,
- lunch and beverages on Day 1,
- a trip and guided tour of the Aviation Training Centre of Rzeszów University of Technology on Day 2.
